Visitors

Welcome Visitors!

We know that finding a church can be challenging. From services to education to outreach, First Presbyterian wants you to know who we are so you can join us just as you are.

Worship

Worship begins at 11:00 AM. Ushers will greet you at the door of the sanctuary, on the corner of Park Avenue and Adams Street. If you prefer to check us out online, a livestream option is also available.

See the Worship tab to learn more.

Sunday School

Our Sunday School programs for children, youth, and adults are currently a combination of in-person, online, and hybrid meetings (using Zoom). Sunday School starts at 9:30 AM. Childcare for infants and toddlers is available. For more information, please contact the church office.

Parking

If you come by car, please feel free to park in the small lot near our Education Building at 110 North Adams Street. You may also park on the street (the parking meters are free on weekends) or for free in the lot at the Aloft Hotel on East Call Street. To find us, please see the directions page.

Parking for the Mobility Impaired

Several meters on Adams Street in front of the sanctuary are marked “Handicapped Parking Sundays Only.” These are informal designations. You do not need an official handicapped tag to park in these spaces. Official spaces for the handicapped are on Park Avenue. Follow the signs to the elevator, through the courtyard, on the west end of the sanctuary.

Access

The sanctuary is accessible via an elevator located on the left side of the breezeway at the back of the courtyard.    Spaces for wheelchairs are provided near the pulpit on the north and south aisles.

For the Hard of Hearing

The sanctuary is equipped with a “induction loop” system.  If your hearing aid has a “T – telephone” switch, switch it to this setting for a clear signal.  If your hearing aid is not equipped with this switch, receivers are available from the ushers.

Does sexual orientation matter?

Not to God, and not to us. We welcome all in the name of Christ; all whom God calls into community and leadership in God’s church, regardless of sexual orientation.

Children Welcome

Children of all ages are welcome in worship. Learning in Worship materials are available in the narthex (vestibule) for use by children. Children are invited to take part in all aspects of the service.

Childcare for Young Children

For those who choose it, childcare is provided in the Education Building for infants, toddlers, and children who have not yet entered Kindergarten. Our sitters are professionally trained and certified. For security, the Education Building is locked once the worship service starts. If the doors to the Education Building are locked when you arrive, please see an usher at the entrance to the sanctuary, who will be happy to assist you.

Wondering what to wear?

There is no dress code. Whether you are dressed formally or informally, God welcomes you, and so do we.
