Youth

Our youth groups offer a balance of study, service, worship, and, of course, recreation for youth  who desire a faith-centered fellowship.  Teams of adult advisers work with the youth to plan and implement youth group activities.

In addition to Sunday evening programs, youth take part in other activities through the year, mission trips during Spring Break, and the Montreat Youth Conference in Montreat, North Carolina each summer.

Mission Opportunity

First Presbyterian Church is excited to offer two mission experiences for church members this winter. In both instances we will be working with those who are homeless or struggling with poverty in the Atlanta area. We will be helping to minister with and provide services through various church-related agencies. We will also have the experience of living together in Christian community, starting and ending each day in prayer, study and reflection.  The trip available to high school students and adults is detailed below.

March 18 – 23: For High School Students & Adults

Cost: $150

We will work directly with DOOR ministries in Atlanta, going in small groups to work alongside those in local agencies around the area. Specifically we will work with Central Presbyterian Church’s Outreach and Advocacy Ctr., Mercy Community Church and a farm run by the Mennonite Church. Each of these organizations assists those who are homeless or caught in the cycle of poverty.  We will stay at St. Mark’s UM Church and will be hosted by DOOR’s Young Adult Volunteer employee, Thomas Guthrie. There will be time to explore the downtown Atlanta area, enjoy some local eateries and entertainments as well as meet those who have devoted their lives to doing Christ’s work in the world by ministering to the poor.

Space is limited to 14 people. Adults who attend will be asked to serve as chaperones to the high school aged students who will also be on the trip. Transportation is provided.

We will leave Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Money for lunch en route both ways is necessary.

Friday morning we will eat breakfast, pack up and leave for Tallahassee, so we will be back by early afternoon.

“Perfectly Imperfect”

Summer Youth Conference

Montreat, North Carolina

This conference is designed for high school students and their adult leaders.

We will come together as a community of faith in this sacred place. Free of distraction, we will focus on the God who accepts us just as we are. While we have fun with friends, we will celebrate God through meaningful, creative and interactive worship. Youth will be inspired and challenged to affirm and deepen their sense of Christian identity.

The Montreat Youth Conferences are designed for high school students, entering freshmen through graduated seniors. A Youth Conference is a unique gathering of young people from all over the country for a week of study, worship, and recreation. Activities include morning energizers, music, keynote, small group meetings where the conference theme is explored, afternoon recreation activities, and evening worship.
